New Training Building

providing facilities for new Government 14-19 Engineering Curriculum and Apprentices, with Engineering Workshop CAD/CAM Workshop Classrooms Office, Conference, Dining Facilities fully disabled compliant, building uses large south facing glazing to act as solar trombe wall and a mixture of gas radiant and heat pump heating Client R C Diocesan Trustees.

Original Farmhouse reconstruction

Reconstructed late medieval cruck barn, re built as a house, conservatory, games room, swimming pool& garages. Building is stone cobble with a thatched roof, original trusses repaired. Work also required archaeological survey. Location Whitechapel

Hayloft Lancaster

Holiday accommodation, caravan site, boat slipway, works to estuary, forestry works, golf course. Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Presentation view shows part of proposals to place Eco pods in estuary as bird hides. Location Lune Estuary Lancaster.

Project Hebdon Bridge.

Conversion of Grade Two Listed Building, formerly weavers cottage to specialist soap manufacturer, cafe, retreat centre & residential flats, split level site with access to rear from high level walkways. Location Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire

Professional Barn Conversion

Conversion of courtyard of Barns to six houses, residential scheme, stone built with flag roofs, later addition of solar PV, garages pat buried into landscaping. Location Slyne with Hest North of Lancaster.

Model of Midland Hotel Morecambe

Scheme designed to restore building into hotel, Eric Gill statues, shoreline location. Morecambe

Barn Conversion Lancaster

Dental Training Centre

To provide new Government Education 14-19 Curriculum and work based apprentices, photo shows new Dental School which opens up with sliding wall to teaching spaces on right, we have also undertaken a Vehicle Repair Workshop and Engineering School, Numerical Control CNC Milling Workshop and Teaching areas with associated offices. Location Blackburn.

Medieval cruck barn rebuilt

Reconstructed as house with conservatory games room swimming pool & garages. Building is stone cobble built with a thatched roof, original trusses repaired & retained. Design Work also required archaeological survey Location Whitechapel.

Architectural Working Drawings

Interior Design Work undertaken by the Practice, Application for Listed Building, Conservation Area & Heritage Consents, Historic Churches Approval worked on II*, II Conservation Area projects in Kent, Leicestershire, Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, Lancashire, Scottish Borders, Westminster, Enfield, Gloucestershire, North Wales.

Grade 11 listed building reservation.

Following an arson attack on a Church a range of old storage rooms & offices rebuilt with disabled toilets & kitchens. Repair of artifacts, statue repaired, recarved by sculptor brought specially from Russia. New Door openings are stone practice pieces carved for A W Pugin. Location PRESTON.

Farmhouse Reconstruction

Original Farmhouse Reconstruction, due to structural failure; designed for extension using reclaimed cobble stone and hand made brick from Furness Brick. Adjacent small barn converted into garages and workshops with solar PV and solar conservatory ( trombe wall). Location Woodplumpton.

Wigan Queen St, Conversions.

Conversation of original Protector Safety Building into industrial units, scheme involved removing the north light roof and cast iron structure and replacing with new portal frame, restriction of working next to West Coast Main Line, retaining the external walls, water tower, this being a listed building. Won Wigan Civic Trust Award,; tenants included Offshore Oil and Gas Valve Manufacturer, Workwear manufacture, Motor repair workshops, Alphabet Zoo Children's Centre, Furniture Manufacture. Location Wigan.

Designs for new shops & offices

Construction of new shops & offices retaining part of existing façade, Conservation Area, shops include Cafes, Greek Restaurant, Betting Shops including obtaining Betting Licenses, Call Centre for on line gambling, Training Facilities. New Access to Wigan Bus Station The scheme also required an archaeological survey as early medieval artifacts were found in the footings the site is near a possible Roman site.

Working Drawings for church

Interior Design Work undertaken by the Architectural Practise, Application for Listed Building, Conservation Area and Heritage Consents, Historic Churches Approval. We have worked on Grade two and conservation projects in Kent, Leicestershire, Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, Lancashire, Scottish Borders, Westminster.,Enfield, Gloucestershire, North Wales.

Plans drawn for outdoor pursuits centre

Location plan snows site of former Winmarleigh Hall college of agriculture, converted into outdoor pursuits centre, bedroom and staff accommodation for 400 residents; canoeing, caving, zip wire, climbing, quad biking and archery facilities; new computer training centre sewage works commercial kitchen and dining room, new bar, and forestry enhanced plating of 100,00 trees and diverting of footpaths. Location North Lancashire.

Professionalism.

Simon Gillespie Associates is a Chartered Architectural Design Practice registered wtth the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Architects Registration Council UK ARCUK.

The practice was established in 1987 and operates from offices in West Cliff, Preston; with projects from Kent to the Scottish Borders.

The practice is managed by Simon Gillespie, a graduate of the Liverpool University School of Architecture, Simon has a wealth of experience of mutli-dsiciplinary and management contracting, this expertise was gained during his time with:-

  • Building Design Partnership.
  • Simon TR Interntional PLC.
  • John Mowlem PLC.

After which he established his own practice.

His associate Lisa Capstick, a graduate of Leeds Univeristy School of Art and Design in 2000, has worked for the practie since the year 2000.

Philosophy.

The design philosophy of the architectural practice is to have the opportunity of developing exciting design solutions, more ideas, different views, different ways of doing what is a very difficult yet incredibly creative job of producing exciting architectural design solutions within commercially aware environments, using the latest technology to achieve these objectives.

Experience.

We have completed almost 1000 projects ith a current value of almost a billion pounds.

Our current workload includes projects from under £5000 to almost £10 million.

As a Chartered Architect and building consultant we have tendered quotations and been involved in many different types of projects, including outline planning building regulations working drawings , overseeing the design construction and completion of a wide spectrum of projects including Residential properties, Commercial Buildings , Engineering Workshops Sport Complexes Hotels and many others including Vernacular building projects working with stone and building renovations House Extensions Thatched Roof designs Trombe Wall incorporation to improve heat exchange in conjunction with Solar and Thermal solutions for Student Accommodation, Nursing Homes, Garden Rooms, Conservatories etc.,
